For Claudio Ponce dance is a song of the body, a poem of which each movement is a word. To watch his dance is to hear his heart speak. Audiences praise his technique, expression, and passion for Argentine folklore. During his 2011 European tour he received standing ovations for performances of Argentine folklore in London, Rome and Madrid.

Born in La Banda, the oldest city in Argentina, home of many artists, it was natural for Claudio Ponce to follow the traditions of Santiago del Estero folkloric music and dance. He studied with great masters of Argentine folklore and became one of the most prestigious performers in the world. Claudio and his brother Daniel became known as Los Latigos Santiagueños, and Claudio’s appearances include various Folk and Tango Festivals, popular TV shows, Cirque Du Soleil, performances for Presidents G.W. Bush and 

Barack Obama, Ban Ki-moon, special projects and theatrical performances. He toured countries of South America, Europe, USA, Canada and Japan as a soloist and asa member of Los Latigos Santiagueños. In addition to performing, Claudio Ponce is a very dedicated dance instructor and he has been teaching folklore and tango for more than twenty years. His students have earned the highest national awards.

Claudio Ponce came to the USA in 2000 and resides in Miami. He is a professor at Miami Contemporary Dance Company and a consultant for Nova Southeastern University. Claudio Ponce conducts numerous workshops of Argentine folklore throughout the USA and abroad and he continues passionately to represent the cultural heritage of Argentina.                

In 2010,  Claudio Ponce was recognized as a distinguished artist by the city of Miami for his professionalism, talent and great contributions to the cultural life.
In 2011, Claudio Ponce became a member of International Dance Council which is under auspices of UNESCO.
